Tribute paid to Barry Fletcher former Chichester Mayor

A Eulogy was made to the former Chichester Mayor, Barry Fletcher who died on 22nd September, aged 77.

He held the office of mayor in 1998 and was described by colleagues as a ‘powerful, innovative and effective councillor’; when he represented the Chichester north ward for the Liberal Democrats for 15 years.

Richard Plowman, former mayor in 2005 said at a thanksgiving service for Mr Fletcher at St Paul’s Church, in Chichester, on Friday (October 3): “I don’t think it is too strong a claim to say that he loved Chichester.”

Barry Fletcher’s contribution over the years to Chichester has been described as ‘immense’ and he will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.
