    Overview

    Bosham near Chichester is thought to have been the birth and burial place of the last Saxon King Harold. It was from Bosham that he sailed for Normandy in 1064. The church of Bosham is depicted in the Bayeux Tapestry. The Doomsday Book listed Bosham as one of the wealthiest manors in England.

    These days the small coastal village forms part of Chichester harbour and is served by Bosham railway station which is situated in Broadbridge. It has an active sailing club and plenty of good places to eat. The White Swan in Station Road is always popular and serves an excellent beef and Guinness stew.
    Marwick’s Brasserie in Bosham Lane does a very fine Green Thai curry on their “Thai Tuesdays”, which is well worth a try.

    Bosham Primary School, Chidham Parochial Primary School and Funtington Primary all have a good reputation. Chichester College is just short of 3 miles away.
