Jack Olley runs in memory of granddad
Jack Olley from Selsey overcame injuries to complete a half marathon in memory of his granddad Peter Olley. Eighteen-year old Jack Olley completed the Farnham Pilgrim Half Marathon in two hours and 15 minutes. His grandfather Peter passed away from cancer in December 2012 and Jack was determined to raise money in his memory for Cancer Research UK.
Jack said: “My dad left when I was very young and my granddad was my father figure, I didn’t want to let down my granddad, my nan who has cancer, or any of the donors.”
His family supported Jack, including his grandmother, who came to support him. Jack raised more than £300 for Cancer Research and came 279th out of 600 runners.
