Chichester Hospital threat involving the contract for A & E services. Chichester’s Accident & Emergency services are under threat following the decision to hand the multi-million-pound NHS contract to Bupa CSH Limited. Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is considering challenging the decision to award the MSK (musculoskeletal) contract away from it and other NHS providers. It is thought that this decision could threaten the future of the two A&E trauma units at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester and Worthing Hospital.

The Western Sussex Hospitals commercial director Mike Jennings said:“At the moment, our main concern is about how this will affect our trauma services. “Emergency surgery on fractures or broken hips in the elderly is done by the same surgeons who do planned hip and knee replacements, but the trauma services are not included in the MSK contract.
